The Poppy Concert at All Saints Church, Brompton by Sawdon, in aid of the Royal British Legion,  was well-received by everyone who attended.

The sound of the bells resounded round the village on Saturday evening as people made their way to church. On arrival they were welcomed with a glass of wine and canapes. They listened to the lyrical piano music of Debussy,  Brahms and Chopin played beautifully by Julia Spencer, as they viewed the tapestries "Threads of War" inspired by the First     World War.

Manhattan Voices, led by Sue Hartley,  sang with their usual energy providing a varied selection of music. This was chosen to correlate with readings linked to World War 1. Congratulations to soloists Penny Richardson, Liz David and Michael O'Brien, who gave some wonderful performances.

Terry Cartlidge brought the evening to a close with the National Anthem and organ music by Karg Elert, John Stanley and J.S. Bach.
