The spirit of Christmas, in the form of twinkly lights and candles, greeted us as we arrived at the Academy for our final Singaround of 2016 on Monday 5th December.

The relaxing atmosphere and warmth of the audience enables even the most nervous of us to enjoy performing. Tonight was no exception. Whether performer or listener, it was an evening not to be missed.

It is incredible how much the singers have grown in confidence. Only a year ago many had not sung before. Now they are performing to an audience. Let us take this opportunity to congratulate all those involved.

As usual there was plenty of material from a variety of genres. This was interspersed with Christmas songs, many of which had choruses for everyone to join in.

It was good to see one of the Academy's younger students, Chloe Moran accompanying herself on the piano. She brought us to tears, with her emotional version of "Dance with my Father."

We look forward to another successful year in 2017.

The next Singaround is on Monday 9th January - 8.00 - 9.30 pm.
