Saturday night saw the culmination of five weeks of heated competition in Pitch Battle.

The 30 vocal groups were whittled down to the best six - and judges Gareth Malone, Kelis and Deke Sharon oversaw proceedings on Saturday in the live final when Leeds Contemporary Singers were crowned champions.

Host Mel Giedroyc shouted: "Now ladies and gentlemen your winners of Pitch Battle - it's Leeds Contemporary Singers."

They are a nine piece vocal harmony group who met whilst studying at Leeds College of Music.

The talented performers competed against five other musical acts in impressing judges, TV choirmaster Gareth Malone and internationally acclaimed artist Kelis.

They lifted the trophy after winning the first series of the BBC singing contest.

Following a show stopping performance alongside vocalist superstar Will Young, the nine songbirds sang their way to a £50,000 cash prize.

And here in the bottom right of the picture is our very own Robyn Keech.

Congratulations from everyone at the Academy.
