After the first successful Singaround at Scarborough Academy of Music the word had  spread!

The fun and enjoyment gained from singing in a relaxed environment, with the support of friends is a fantastic experience. This is what Singaround is all about. Individuals spoke of their feelings of joy and achievement and how they had gained in confidence singing a solo for the first time.

Of particular note, was the range of genres of music.  During the evening people sang from Musical Theatre, opera, folk and American traditional music. This was felt to be another strength of these events – such variety and eclecticism might be rare in comparable opportunities for singers to develop their skills.

The evening was rounded off with some light-hearted communal singing, which along with a glass of wine left everyone feeling good!

The Singaround meetings are held on the first Monday evening of the month between 8 and 9.30 pm at the Academy. However please note: the May Singaround will be held on the 9th May (not the 2nd) due to the Bank Holiday.

Sue Hartley (Principal) said, ‘These evenings are all about creating an opportunity to have-a-go, gain in confidence, have fun and finding your voice.”

All are welcome – especially if you are early on in your singing career!
